Dental Sealants in Miami
What is Dental Sealants and what do we do at Flores Dental Group?
Dental sealants are thin plastic coatings that provide your molars with an additional layer of protection against decay. They’re sometimes referred to as pit-and-fissure sealants for the type of cavity most commonly associated with the molars. Dental sealants must be applied before decay has begun, which is why they are usually undergone by children beginning around age 6. Because the sealants are typically clear or white and in the back of your mouth, they will not be visible to anyone
Benefits of Dental Sealants
Dental Sealants offer numerous advantages for keeping your teeth healthy:
- Cavity prevention: Dental sealants protect the chewing surfaces of teeth, preventing bacteria and food debris from accumulating in the grooves and causing cavities.
- Durability: Dental Sealants can last several years, making them a long-term solution for protecting your teeth.
- Quick and simple procedure: The application of Dental Sealants is a fast, painless, and non-invasive process performed in a single visit to the dentist.
- Suitable for all ages: Dental sealants are an excellent choice for both children and adults, as they can protect teeth from an early age and keep them healthy throughout life.
Dental Sealants at Flores Dental Group: How does the treatment work?
At Flores Dental Group, our professionals apply Dental Sealants following a simple and effective process:
- Tooth cleaning and drying: The dentist will clean and dry the tooth before applying the dental sealant.
- Sealant application: The dentist will apply the sealing material to the tooth’s chewing surfaces, ensuring the grooves are fully covered.
- Drying and hardening: The dentist will use a special light to harden and fix the sealant to the tooth.
Frequently Asked Questions about Dental Sealants
Yes, Dental Sealants are safe and effective for preventing cavities on the chewing surfaces of teeth. They are widely used and recommended by dentists worldwide.
Dental Sealants can last up to 10 years. However, it is essential to attend regular check-ups with your dentist to ensure the sealant remains effective and replace it if necessary.
Although Dental Sealants are commonly applied to children's teeth as a preventive measure against cavities, they can also be beneficial for adults. Anyone with healthy teeth and deep grooves on their chewing surfaces can consider Dental Sealants to help prevent future cavities.
Dental Sealants are most effective when applied to healthy teeth with no existing cavities or fillings. However, in some cases, a dentist may recommend applying a sealant over a small filling or cavity to provide additional protection and prevent further decay.
The process of applying Dental Sealants is relatively quick and can usually be completed in a single visit to the dentist. The exact time may vary depending on the number of teeth being treated, but it generally takes just a few minutes per tooth.
Dental Sealants are very thin and should not cause any noticeable change in the way your teeth feel. Most patients do not notice any difference after having Dental Sealants applied.
The cost of Dental Sealants may vary depending on your location, dental insurance coverage, and the specific dental practice. It's best to consult with your dentist to get an accurate estimate for the cost of Dental Sealants in your case.
